Gene Therapy News

Researchers from Northwestern University were working to find a system in order to deliver genes to cells effectively and safely. They have been working to develop nanodiamonds as a method for gene delivery in order to treat cancer, heart disease and much more. The teams engineered nanodiamond particles were 70 times more efficient than the previous conventional method of delivery. The method was tested on a human cervical cancer cell. This discovery not only boasts a high-efficiency rate but also is also very biocompatible, making the delivery of genes much safer. The team will work to move the testing past pre-clinical trials.
